She retched again and vomited into the bowl trying not to let the acrid smell fill her lungs because that smell often made her vomit again. She had been feeling rough for a couple of days but had decided to distract herself by cleaning, the kitchen was done but when it came to bleaching the bathroom the enclosed space made the cloying scent had seemed magnified somehow and it had stuck to the back of her throat until she had coughed it out. She was sick.
She was sick and she hated to be sick. She pulled the plastic toilet seat down and rested her arm on it so she could lay her cheek against her wrist. She felt the tears streaking over her hand and it tickled unpleasantly, but she was exhausted from the exertion of being so drastically unwell, so she did not move.

Her name is Violet.
I always forget that when I'm working.
I have to remember.
Her name is Violet.
Violet is my friend.
Her name is Violet.

A man scratched that down on a pad of paper. He had a slightly crazed look in his eyes as he wrote the name again and again. Violet, Violet, Violet. Icy blue eyes flickered back and forth from the pen to the paper. He trembled a little bit. He wondered why she wasn't home.

The man was Josiah Newman. He was a genius. No one could deny that. He had created countless wonders, bringing forth miracles from the tips of his fingers through the machines he made and the theories he formed. Josiah was also crazy. That was more prevalent than his intelligence. Many times he woke screaming in the night, demanding God to show himself. Once, he had attacked his secretary because she was breathing too loudly and disturbing his work. Her name was Mary.

Violet is not Mary.
She helps me work.
I have to stop calling her Mary.

Since then, Josiah Newman was prohibited from being a part of the civilized world. He was branded insane. That didn't affect Josiah much. All he knew was that something had happened to Mary,but he couldn't care less. She was an obnoxious, wretched girl. He couldn't waste his time to wear black, like someone had said to him. He didn't have time to watch a box be put in the ground. He didn't have time to look down on a stone that someone had scribbled on. He was far too busy and needed to work. He had to design his new house. For some reason, he was leaving the city and going far, far away. Josiah wasn't sure as to why, but was thankful for the chance. The cars bothered him. He could do so much more all alone. But he wasn't alone. The police were sending one person to attend to him; young and innocent Violet Manson. The beautiful girl was still very young, but somewhere deep down, he felt like he had stolen that innocence.
